Asin is a Pinoy band of folk rock music. They were originally called "Salt of the Earth" during their formation on 1970's. The original name was derived from the song of Joan Baez but eventually, they changed it to Asin for more Pinoy taste. Asin is the translation of Salt in Filipino. The band was made up of four members by currently they were two left. Asin is the first Filipino band who used traditional instruments for their music and even studied tribal music for the originality of music.
