Games I Really Wanted for the Sega Saturn

Even our most beloved game systems will have holes in their library where you wanted a game from some other platform. Be it arcade, PC, or another console, you will likely covet a game that you'll never get. The Saturn was no exception for me, and this episode covers games I really wanted for Sega's 32-bit powerhouse.

Episode Notes:

1. Games covered -
WWF WrestleFest
Shock Troopers
Night Slashers
Cool Riders
VF3
Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
Alien vs Predator
Resident Evil 2
Golden Axe The Revenge of Death Adder
Street Fighter 3

2. MAME used for most of these games. RE2 was the DC version. VF3 was the DC version.

3. I showed Outrunners in the opening and ending monologues because I have covered this one before, but wanted it part of the subject matter here.

4. Shadow Force was made by the company that did Double Dragon, Technos, and I would love to have seen a home version on the Saturn.

5. The cancelled VF3 Saturn port was rumored to have had a polygon accelerator cartridge in development. This cart was intended to go on and be used in other Saturn games, like Scud Race and Daytona 2.

6. The original list for the episode spanned some 50 games. I had to cut it down incredibly. If you enjoyed it, let me know and I'll do a part 2.

7. If you liked the look of many of the arcade games in this episode, they all play great on MAME now. Even Cool Riders.

8. Saturn releases in Japan would go on for a few years after the release of the DC. However, once the rumors began in 1997 of a new platform from Sega, it was pretty much over for the platform in NA and Europe. None of these games ever had any chance of release there.
