carizCumbal - unreal productions

In 2008 I had the priviledge of travelling to Cumbal in the south east of Colombia as part of a film production team, scouting for potential places and people. My mission was to assist in the search of the film's main character, a young boy, which resulted in this unique collection of twin portraits - serious and smiles.

These boys intrigued me. It has been entertaining to guess what are they like when in school?, what their parents do for a living?, are they shy?, confident?, what are the untold stories of their futures? All of these thoughts are inspired by a character, a glimpse of a cariz revealed by something as simple as a smile.

The audio accompanying the portraits is an extract taken from a live parade during the 2008 Carnival of Blacks and Whites, held annually in the region.
