Howard lets the letterpress print do the talking for him for Say Hi Day (June 11)

June 11th is Say Hi Day! This day, organized by the Say Hi Foundation, is a public awareness campaign to remind individuals that one simple word like saying Hi or Hello can improve someone’s day or positively shift their mood.

For today, Howard let the print do the talking for him and letterpress printed using the largest wood type (30 line pica) that we have in our print shop exhibit. This is, indeed, the biggest “HI!” we can print. The typeface is French Clarendon and the type was made by the Hamilton Wood Type Company in the late 1880s. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
