White House calls Amazon showing tariff-related pricing changes a 'hostile and political act'

Hey there, quick news update! Amazon's caught some heat from the Trump administration over plans to display tariff-related price hikes on their site. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called this a "hostile and political act" and Amazon's stock dipped more than 1% after the news.

Curiously, some Amazon merchants are thinking of scaling back their involvement in Prime Day this summer because of tariff uncertainty. Leavitt shot back, questioning why Amazon didn't do this when inflation hit a 40-year high under the Biden administration.

Amazon's been mum on the topic so far, but CEO Andy Jassy previously said they're doing everything to keep prices low for customers. And yes, they're talking to the administration all the time about concerns, including tariffs.

This all comes as Amazon preps for its quarterly results reveal on Thursday, and everyone's waiting to hear more from Jassy on tariffs and Trump's adjustments to the de minimis exemption. Talk about a busy week for Amazon!
