Fundamental: an essential part of, a foundation or basis; basic;
Extended Family: a kinship group consisting of a family nucleus and various relatives, as grandparents, usually living in one household and functioning as a larger unit.
Strict: stringent or exacting in or in enforcing rules
Scrutiny: a searching examination or investigation
Necessary: essential, indispensable
Compelling: having a powerful and irresistible effect
Marriage: to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities
Due Process: the regular administration of the law, according to which no citizen may be denied his or her legal rights and all laws must conform to fundamental, accepted legal principles
