1892 Modesto Grave of a Posse Victim of Train Robbers Sontag & Evans
Jeff will revisit the grave of a 42-year-old federal deputy Andrew McGinnes who was fatally shot while trying to apprehended the train robbers John Sontag and Christopher Evans. The deputy was ambushed by the train robbers who had held up in a Fresno County foothill cabin on Sept. 13, 1892. His body was taken to Modesto for burial.
