Tata Nexon.EV Summary
The Tata Nexon EV with the new 45 kWh Long Range (LR) battery pack has received a 5 star safety rating by the Bharat NCAP.

Tata sold over 16,300 units of the Nexon ICE and EV in March 2025.

To celebrate its 2 lakh EV sales milestone, Tata is offering exchange bonus of up to Rs 50,000, along with 100 percent on-road finance for new and existing customers.
Tata has discontinued the 40.5 kWh battery pack (Long Range) from the Nexon EV’s lineup.

Now check out the Red Dark edition of the Tata Nexon EV in person as the units have arrived at dealerships. In the related news, The Nexon EV has also received a larger battery pack and a couple of new features.

The Tata Nexon is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh for the entry-level Creative Plus Medium Range (MR) variant and tops out at Rs 16.99 lakh (introductory ex-showroom) for the fully loaded Empowered Plus 45. Tata has added two new variants with an extended battery pack(45 kWh), the variants are Empowered Plus 45 Red Dark and Empowered Plus 45. The Red Dark edition of the electric SUV is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh. (All prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

The biggest feature update is that the Nexon EV now gets a panoramic sunroof and top comfort and convenience features in the Tata Nexon EV include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, connected car tech, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, keyless entry with push button start, cruise control and a 360-degree camera.

The Tata Nexon EV is offered with two powertrain options: Medium Range and Long Range.
Medium Range (MR): This version comes packing a 30 kWh battery pack that powers a 129 PS/215 Nm e-motor that drives the front wheels. Put your foot down and this version can do 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds.

Long Range (LR): This model of the electric SUV now features two battery packs: 40.5 kWh and a new 45 kWh. Both the battery packs come with a 143 PS/215 Nm front-wheel drive e-motor. Thanks to the additional power, this variant is slightly quicker than the MR version, hitting 100 kmph in just 8.9 seconds.

Since the Nexon EV is an electric car, both versions get a single-speed automatic transmission.

The claimed range of the 30 kWh battery for the Tata Nexon is rated at 325 km for the Medium Range. For the 40.5 kWh battery pack, the claimed range is 465 km, and for the 45 kWh battery the claimed range is 489 km. In the real world, you can expect the MR version to return around 200 km to 220 km, while the Nexon EV LR will deliver 350 km to 370 km. Keep in mind that the actual real world range varies based on driving style, ambient temperature and brake energy regeneration level.

The Tata Nexon EV comes loaded with safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, hill hold control, hill descent control and electronic parking brake with auto hold.
It’s reassuring to know that the Tata Nexon EV has secured a full five star rating after being crash tested by Bharat NCAP.

The Tata Nexon EV is available in seven colour options: Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Flame Red, Creative Ocean, Fearless Purple, Empowered Oxide and Onyx Black.

Do note that colours such as Creative Ocean, Empowered Oxide and Fearless Purple are variant-specific. The Onyx Black is sold as a #Dark variant and once again, limited to higher-end variants.
Empowered Oxide: This hue is a middle ground between off-white and grey. The pearl specks in it give it an additional sheen.
Onyx Black: If you want something sporty with stealth, this is the one to go for. Opting for this colour also means you get an all-black interior that looks super cool!

The Tata Nexon EV’s only direct rival in the market is the Mahindra XUV400 EV, which is larger and offers better space and boot space. However, the Mahindra isn’t as feature loaded and doesn’t look as futuristic as the Tata. If you can extend your budget, you can consider the MG ZS EV as well.
