‘Deliberately timed’: Chris Bowen’s press release to ‘distract’ from petrol tax increase

Sky News host Paul Murray says Chris Bowen “deliberately timed” a press release to “distract” from the increase in petrol taxes.

Mr Murray said the media “turned around and fell for it”.

“The reality of what this government was doing, which is increasing your tax.

“This is an announcement about a system that doesn’t kick in until the middle of the year but doesn’t really get going until next year.

“And as the fine print in the press release shows, it doesn’t even really kick in until the year 2028.”
