In today’s tutorial, we’re continuing our journey through the filters in Nik 8 Color Efex, and we’re taking a close look at Selective Tone (Viveza). This is one of the best filters for natural-looking tonal control because it lets you target specific tonal ranges—highlights, midtones, shadows, and blacks—without flattening the whole image or overcooking contrast.

I’ll show you how Selective Tone works, what the main adjustments do, and then we’ll apply it to multiple examples so you can see the before-and-after results clearly. You’ll learn how to:
• Pull back bright highlights while keeping the image natural
• Open up shadows and deepen blacks without losing detail
• Add midtone depth and shape light more precisely
• Use Selective Tone early in your workflow before creative filters
