How To Use The JFK AirTrain to JFK Airport

Update! As of 2020 the JFK AirTrain fare is $7.75

JFK AirTrain is the fastest and easiest way to move around JFK Airport. The system connects all passenger terminals to airport parking lots, the hotel shuttle pick-up area, the rental car center, and NYC’s public transportation network at Jamaica and Howard Beach Stations, where you can find the subway, the Long Island Rail Road, and public buses. AirTrain JFK operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

You can take the AirTrain from Penn Station in Manhattan on 34th Street & 7th Avenue via the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and take the train to Jamaica Station. The train ride is about 20 minutes

Or take the E, J, or Z trains to Sutphin Boulevard. Then follow the signs to the AirTrain.

To take the AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica Station or Howard Beach, the process is similar. Just follow the signs towards the AirTrain in the Arrivals hall in each terminal, board the train, and pay for your fare at the ticket machines when you arrive at Jamaica or Howard Beach.

In this video, I take the AirTrain from Jamaica Station/Sutphin Boulevard to JFK Airport Terminal 5.
