Threads in Teams: What You Need to Know

How do you use the Threads in Microsoft Teams? You might also be wondering how Threads are different than the threaded posts feature that already exists. In this tutorial I am going to show you the current default layout and then demonstrate the new threads feature.

The thread layout looks more like a chat and following threads makes is easier to get back to a conversation you want to track. Getting used to the new layout and making sure people are replying correctly will most likely be a challenge at first so I created a quick cheat sheet for you all.

 When I first saw the announcement for Threads and Microsoft Teams, I was like, how is this any different than what we already have? It wasn't until they released the feature that I understood what they were trying to do.

I will use my Teams demonstration account so we can look at a classic post style channel where somebody can create a message and then when another person replies, the messages are all kept together. And this has traditionally been called threading. So to look at the difference, we're gonna look at a different channel where the thread layout has been applied, and instead of the tab being called posts, it's called conversations
