Marvel and DC fans, we need to talk! Some of the biggest upcoming superhero games are in serious trouble, and I’m breaking it all down. Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games has been mysteriously absent from PlayStation Showcase 2025 and State of Play, leaving fans wondering if the 2026 release date is still on track. After the Insomniac Games cyber attack and studio layoffs, could this game face delays or major changes? Meanwhile, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the WWII Black Panther and Captain America game from Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media, still has no gameplay footage despite a 2025 release window, making fans nervous that the project could be in trouble.

Things look even worse for TMNT: The Last Ronin—the highly anticipated THQ Nordic adaptation of the beloved comic. Following massive layoffs at Black Forest Games, the game has seemingly disappeared, sparking Embracer Group game cancellation rumors alongside Transformers Reactivate, which is also missing in action. Could these projects be completely scrapped like the canceled Wonder Woman game?

And speaking of DC, WB Games cancellations are hitting hard, with major restructuring and the future of DC superhero games in question. Thankfully, James Gunn’s DCU gaming strategy might turn things around, with Rocksteady’s Batman Brave and the Bold game rumored to be in development.
