Proteothrinax - The Giant & Extinct Frilled Shark

Frilled sharks are today among the more peculiar and out there sharks living today, and are decent in size too as you would know if you watched the last video I did on them, at about 2 meters in length. Their diversity broadly in the past though was quite a bit more diverse, and as we’ll see in this video got much, much bigger.

This is seen in the genus Proteothrinax goliath, which is an aptly named animal that lived during the late Cretaceous in around the seas that now constitutes the country of Angola. I hope you enjoy this year's Shark Week!
