TIG Welding Technique: The Dab Method Tips and Tricks | TIG Time
If you have to weld two pieces of metal together, it is almost guaranteed that it can be done with the TIG welding process. The difficulty comes in when the welder has to determine the best way of going about that weld. In TIG welding there are countless accessories, equipment and other factors that go into getting good results. However, at the end of the day, if you're technique is not up to snuff, all the accessories and gear isn't going to mean a thing.
In this video, we go over the dab method. This technique is one that is used almost exclusively in aerospace and other industries that require precision welds.
Here are some quick tips for getting good results with the dab method:
1. Dab the filler at the base of the puddle
2. Establish a rhythm to your dabs
3. Keep your filler metal in the shielding gas
4. Maintain a constant travel speed
5. Add an extra bad at the end of your weld
