Special: Women In Hollywood

The #MeToo movement has been dominating the news the past couple of months. At the moment, it feels like the hype might be starting to dry up, though, so this makes us wonder, what did it do for women in Hollywood? And what’s next on the agenda for female empowerment?

To answer these questions, we have to quickly go through how it all started and evolved. A lot of industry big shots have been accused of sexual misconduct in the past, most famously director Roman Polanski, who was convicted of raping a 13-year old. But it wasn’t until a journalist gathered the numerous allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein that the snowball started rolling. In just a matter of weeks all kind of actresses, among them Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lawrence and Uma Thurman, started sharing their stories of harassment, and #MeToo was born.
