Captain America shield Part 1 - FULL version - getting started

My friends wanted to make a metal Cosplay Captain America shield (i have no idea why) and i thought it would be an interesting project for both woodturning and metal spinning. this video documents the process along with the first three attempts, all failed but it appears the biggest problem i had was using the wrong grade of aluminum (6061). i thought it would be okay since it was so thin but the material would not stretch and split along the edges quite dramatically. i will be ordering some 1100 aluminum to make another attempt and publish the video under part 2.
