미얀마 군정, 페북 접속 차단…시민 저항 무력화 나서

"Our arrested leaders, release them now, release them now "
In Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, 20 people gathered to protest against the military coup which took place a few days ago.
While this was the first street demonstration, there have been different forms of protest throughout the country.
From soft but daring... by healthcare workers in its capital, Yangon...
To people banging pans together while others honk their car horns.
Much of these protests has been planned using social media... where some of the scenes have been shared.
But that has been cut short.
Internet providers in Myanmar have cut access to Facebook and its affiliated services such as Instagram and the messaging system for quote, "stability"... affecting half of Myanmar's 54 million population who have Facebook accounts.
A letter from the country's Ministry of Communications and Information said that access will be blocked until February 7th.
International network monitoring group, NetBlocks, confirmed that Myanmar's state-owned telecom company MPT has blocked the services.
In addition, the Norway-owned mobile network provider, Telenor Asia, also said it is complying with the government's directive.
However, the company says that while the order has legal basis locally, it goes against international human rights laws.
Facebook also said in a statement that it is aware of the disruption and requested that the government reverses its decision.
