Sony PVM 1354Q - BigBox Setup!

This has no editing. Was too excited that I just wanted to show off my NEARLY completed BigBox build. Can play anything from NES to Wii.

After a few weeks of fiddling with this, my little fun project is about 90% done.

I built a multiple console emulator front end (using BigBox) using an old Dell OptiPlex 9010 that I got from work.

I threw in an AMD Radeon HD 7570 that I found for 20 bucks to render the graphics of the emulator.

Everything plays in 240p, downscaled from 480i.

One of the challenges was finding a Sync Combiner, since VGA is RGB HV Sync, and the Sony 1354Q PVM is RGBs.

So I sourced an old Extron 201RXI to take the VGA GBHV signal and convert it to RGBs over BNC connectors.

Overall I'd say it was a success.

There are a few kinks here n there, as far as configuring EACH emulator (like how DEMUL likes to stay in 480i interlaced at fullscreen, versus being downscaled to 240p!) but they'll be ironed out on their own.

One of the really amazing things is that NONE of these roms, or isos are on the computer itself, but in fact, I am STREAMING them over the network via Cat5e from my NAS to the Optiplex.

BigBox is an amazing frontend to launch and combine multiple emulators into an easy to use interface.
