AMT Peterbilt 352 Cabover & Super-B Fuel Trailers Build-Up
Before you watch this, I apologize for the out of focus parts of the film. This is my first attempt at doing this. I also have not figured out how to add pictures to the end of the film.
This was my favorite gas station growing up and I wish they were still around. It's now called Petro Canada and has been since the late 1980's.
I always wanted to build this model and after 2 years of off and on building it is complete. I used the AMT Peterbilt 352 cabover and lots of parts from the Revell 359 conventional. I modified the frame for a longer wheelbase and the back half is the Revell frame and drivetrain. The front half is the AMT frame for proper mounting of the cab, air cleaner and battery box. I also used the Revell steering axle and their wheels and tires. I built the exhaust rack from scratch and doubled up on the air intakes.
Instead if the Detroit, I installed the nice Cummins with the twin turbo setup and piped everything correctly for the intake and exhaust. I think there is about 1/32 of an inch clearance from the bottom of the interior tub but it sure looks good in there.
The Super-B is made from 2 AMT Shell tanker kits and the tank bodies were scaled down to 32 feet and 28 feet in length. I couldn't just cut off the end of the tanks because the individual fuel compartments would be off. I cut out from the middle and removed a compartment from each tank to make the correct size. I also moved all the valves to the drivers side and cut down the plumbing to match. I made the tridem spring suspension to match the tandem and I made the fenders out of sheet brass and plastic strip/tubing. I also converted the lights to the bumper and added the correct running lights on the body and frame.
Thanks to Jerry at Model Trucking for making the decals for me. This is one of my most favorite models that I've ever built.
Thanks for checking it out!
