Axis manufactured mid-span joints are manufactured as per NFC 33-021 with UV and weather-resistant engineering plastic. The color identification for each size is displayed at the end caps and is designed to have a watertight fit to the cable wire.

These connectors are used for insulated AB Cables on stranded phase and neutral to join two cables. The end of the cables need to be stripped as per the length defined for the connector and crimping is to be done on the locations designated on the insulation of the connector.

To install the mid-span joint you will need the following -

1. Wire Brush
2. Oxide Inhibiting Compound
3. Wirecutter
4. Cable insulation stripper
5. Crimping tools
6. Dies

Procedure to join two insulated cabled using mid-span joint -

1. Identify the size of the cable size that needs to be connected.

2. Identify the mid-span joint to be used by the color of end caps. Every size has a standard color from which you can identify.

3. Strip the insulation of the cable using the cable insulation stripper up to the specified length of the mid-span joint. Clean the strands with a wire brush.

Note - Mid-span joints are supplied with factory-filled oxide inhibiting compound that can be applied additionally if required.

4. Insert the stripped end of the cable wire through the mid-span joint through the end caps.

5. Use the crimping tools and dies for the crimping process.

6. Crimping at the specified locations finishes the installation.
