TAT Q&A 06/07/20- Injector repair on a 60 series Detroit with N-3 Injectors/ We discuss after treatment faults and items to look for when buying a used Semi.

I announced the most common issues on an ISX 15 Cummins video release. A view asked what to look for when buying a used truck. We talked about the importance of a good maintenance schedule and the damage of long idle and high idle times. It is always good to request maintenance records when purchasing a used truck and having the truck inspected by an outside shop is also a good practice.

I shared a story about an injector o-ring that was not installed in a newly rebuilt engine. I discussed the troubleshooting procedures for finding the customer's issues. The customer reported heavy smoke during a cold start and fuel dilution in the oil. We ran multiple tests but, it was the pressurized fuel dye test that helps us find the failed injectors. I discussed how the missing middle o-ring was suspected to have caused the damage to the injectors I also discussed our findings with our local injector remanufacture.
