This is an Afghan rug that came into Captain Rug Wash rug cleaning studio. This is a modern Afghan rug with a wool pile and a cotton foundation.

Professional cleaning of all handknotted and area rugs at Plymouth Rug Cleaning.

If you enjoyed watching that video please come and check out this video I made, http://youtu.be/dKFXzwjVQlk , it is a video of a shag pile rug I cleaned several years ago. Even I was amazed at how much soil and dirt came out this rug.

After I had thoroughly badgered this rug, I gave it a deep clean. I use only the safest rug cleaning solutions when it comes to cleaning rugs. Some rugs are more delicate then others so every care is taken when dealing with rugs we get in to clean

It can be a very difficult decision when it comes to choosing a rug cleaning company. Do you flick through the yellow pages? Spend hours trawling through the internet, spend just as many hours on Facebook? Or do you listen to friends and family who recommend a professional rug cleaning company to you.
Whatever way you go about booking a rug cleaner, make sure to read the information below. This is just a bit of advice from myself, Captain Rug Wash of Plymouth Rug Cleaning.
Whether you choose to use our company or not, please take the following advice before letting anyone into your home.

1. Do they answer the phone in a professional manner? Do they return your phone call, the same day, if you left a voice mail? Answering the phone is the first point of contact you will have with a rug cleaning company. Do they answer all the questions that you have and do they advise you and explain things to you in a friendly, professional and respectful manner?

2. What experience do they have? How long have they been in the rug cleaning industry and who are they trusted by? Have they got experience with machine- made and fine hand-knotted rugs? There are a lot of cleaners out there who do not know how to clean silk rugs.
3. Testimonials are a great thing to ask for, if a company is like us, they will have folders full of testimonials from clients.

4. Ask who they are certified with and with whom they take their exams with. Here are some organisations carpet and rug cleaners will be with. IICRC, MRC, NCCA or TACCA.
5. Do they offer a free rug inspection? During this inspection they should explain to you all their qualifications. They should also explain what to expect when they clean your rug for you. They will explain the procedures, what stains will come out and which ones won't. They will also run through a maintenance plan with you, if that's what you want.

6. Their pricing should be honest. The price they give you on your copy of the inspection is what you will pay on completion of the job. Beware of rug cleaning companies that use 'bait and switch'. This is when they quote you one price and on the day of cleaning it's jumped up to another price, because they have "had" to include extras that you did not want. Here at Plymouth Rug Cleaning we offer a 100% money back guarantee. This simply means, if you are not happy with the job, we do it again for free. Then if you are still not satisfied we refund you all your money back.

7. Be aware of a company that say they can clean your rug in your home. To do a thorough rug cleaning job, this is simply not possible. All rugs we clean are taken back to our rug cleaning studio.
8. Here at Plymouth Rug Cleaning we are with the Buy With Confidence scheme which is part of Trading Standards and Plymouth City Council. This ensures that people are using tradesmen who are honest, trustworthy and reliable.

9. What cleaning solutions does the rug cleaning company use? Are they harmful chemicals or are they safe ECO friendly products. Will the rug cleaner be using a lot of soaps and shampoos, which leaves residues in the rug and re-soils quicker? We don't.
10. And lastly how do they present themselves? Are they smartly uniformed? Polite, informative? What's their van like? Clean and tidy, inside and out?
These are just a few things I wanted to bring to your attention when choosing a rug cleaning company. You may have even more to ask your rug cleaner. If they are honest and professional they will only be too pleased to be asked these questions. Don't be afraid to ask, before they do work for you.
