Winter in Toronto, Canada: driving, walking & fun in the snow!
#canadianwinter #canada #asouthafricangirllivingincanada
Snow falls in Toronto are magical! Have a look at driving in during a snowfall, cleaning up your driveway from snow and the beauty that Canada has to offer. Life goes on in Canada, come rain or SNOW so get yourself organised by having certain items in your car and home. Click Show More to see what things you NEED when it’s snowing in Canada!
Car:
Snow Scrapers - (leave it in your car so that you can scrape off snow and ice when you drive off)
Wiper Fluid - I have 2 bottles in my car at all times. This fluid does not freeze. The salt on the roads create a real mess all over your car. You will constantly need to use the wiper fluid to clean your car windshield as you drive. If you run out, at least you always have a spare. You will not be able to drive without wiper fluid if it's snowing or if the roads are still covered in salt.
Winter Tires:
If you arrive in Canada in the winter, keep in the back of your mind the fact that you might be sold a car with summer tires! It really does make a difference. I mean look at how tires affect Lewis Hamilton!!! Seriously though... you can store your tires at some stores such as Canadian Tire and simply swap them each season - they take up a lot of space in your garage so this is a great idea.
Home:
Shovels - for shoveling your driveway. Buy a few so the family can get involved! It is a great work out!
Snow blower is an option but not a must. The good old shovel does the trick.
Salt - buy a huge bag of salt (Home Depot or Canadian Tyre). I empty the salt into a large plastic container with a lid and leave a little jug in there to as a scoop. Keep the salt in the garage so you have easy access to it to throw onto your entrance way and/or steps/walkway and around your car tires if necessary. This is great to ensure you don't slip (trust me on this!!!)
Get out there and make the most of the snow, I still think it is magical and romantic, no matter what some Canadians say!!!!
You're welcome
xoxo
