In an Exclusive Interview, Dr. Marina Romanello, Executive Director of the Lancet Countdown, backs the numbers of India Pollution deaths. Lancet reported 15 lakh deaths due to pollution in 2022. She speaks about the government inaction and need for India to monitor more pollution data and provide robust response to our population.
Dr Maria tells Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor that pollution deaths might not have occurred if it were not for the chronic and acute exposure to very, very high levels of toxic air pollutants.  And the WHO thresholds are there to help countries protect their populations. There are thresholds that come from scientific studies.
