Best posture for sitting: why the torso is forward and the pelvis against the chair backrest...
Many white collar and office workers have back pain because they sit too much. Of course, you can buy a sit stand desk... but if you don't know how to sit correctly, I don't believe that you can stand correctly either...
Hence, learning posture correction is step 1 if you don't want to depend on your company's budget for buying an ergonomic desk. And we're not talking about sitting up straight (or upright sitting posture).
In this video, I will demonstrate the 3 steps for a great posture at work, so that you can avoid back pain from sitting:
- why you should sit on your sitting bones
- why your torso should be slightly forward
- why your should rest your pelvis on the lumbar support.
As a result, your shoulder blades are NOT against the backrest when you sit well.
Be aware that changing your habits will take time and can cause temporary discomfort: discuss this video with your therapist, and give yourself time for training. Your muscles will progressively get used to this new sitting position if you train regularly, a few minutes every hour.
