Chickweed: "Squawk" Radio 1 Single of the Week, Dec 1997 & Live Songs!

Incredible as it sounds, our band Chickweed, scored a BBC Radio 1 daytime single of the week waaaaaay back in December 1997. We just sent it off to their address with a wee note and Mark Radcliffe made it his SOTW, completely unexpectedly, over the Foo Fighters "Monkey Wrench" - you couldn't make this up. Here's the story along with a couple of live songs filmed for BBC TV.

For comic relief you could fast-forward to 6:23 to see me fall over in the middle of a song, live in front of the BBC camera's. You can see our drummer laughing about it for the rest of the song. LOL!

Chickweed were
Donna - Vocal and Guitar
Dunsy - Guitar and Vocals
Velda - Bass
Andy - Drums

I loved being in this band. Donna was such a great singer and the rhythm section of Velda and Andy were as tight as a gnat's chuff (as they say here in Scotland) - this was our second 7" single. I'll do a future video on the mini-album we recorded the next again year.

At this point as I was using an old Vox AC30, a Boss DS1 and a 1970's Gibson Les Paul Custom, which I had kitted out to look like Brian Robertson's.
