Please read the FAQs outlined below to fully comprehend what this modification is.
If you don't want to modify your own ICM3 and would rather just have the completed project, you can send me yours and I will do it for you for the kit price, plus £50.
The device needs an external GPS device to improve location accuracy for navigation. The device is shown in this video: https://youtu.be/a6x-3KS80eY
It is also supplied with an Aux cable which is explained in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YKk0mIanlU&t=1s
***FAQs***
*What's included?
-Specially modified used LG G3 (rooted and reprogrammed) with Car Launcher and any apps installed that you ask for
-Ground Loop Isolator
-FM Modulator
-12v-5v step down transformer
-cables (power, audio)
-Aux cable adaptor
-Bluetooth GPS device (if selected)
*How do I connect it to the internet?
Simply set up your hotspot on your mobile phone and connect it to that.
*Does it need to be online?
No. Most music streaming apps like Spotify and Amazon Music allow you to download your playlist. This means that you won't need to put the unit online to stream as you drive. The same goes for navigation. Apps like Google Maps and TomTom allow you to download maps so you won't need to be online. That being said, you will lose out on live updates such as traffic and speed cameras/police if you're not online
*The original ICM3 screen is taken out - what negative impact does this have?
Without the original screen, you will lose the ability to change sound settings such as bass and treble, fade and balance. However, your car will remember your preferences from before you removed the screen. You can actually still access these settings if you remember where the settings are without the screen (do it blind). You can install an app to control bass and treble.
The screen doesn't do anything else, so you're not going to lose anything else. Radio stations, for example, are on the SID screen on your dashboard. In addition to the lack of stock screen, the numeric buttons 2,3,5,6,9 and # will also no longer function as there will be wires routed behind them, however they will still light up. You will still have buttons 1&4 for storing old FM stations.
*Can I install a SIM direct?
Yes you can if you want, the back of the installed phone is accessible and removable.
*Do I need a Tech2 to install?
No, it's plug and play.
*What about my steering wheel controls?
You will retain the usual steering controls. This means volume, CD tracks and radio stations. Unfortunately, you won't be able to change tracks, for example, on Spotify.
*How long does it take to boot up from ignition on?
Around 60 seconds until you can start using it. Please note that you will need to allow the unit to fully boot up (90 seconds) before turning off the ignition. This is because an app detects the loss of ignition power that triggers the device to shut down and it needs time to initialise. If you do switch off your ignition during boot-up, it means the unit will not switch off until the phone battery dies.
*Can I stream music from it from my phone via Bluetooth?
Not out of the box. But the point of this device is that you can stream directly to it by installing your music app direct and you can even download your music directly for offline consumption. If you must have Bluetooth streaming, there are apps you can install on both this device and your phone which will allow this.
*Can I make phone calls hands free?
No. There is no microphone.
*What about Android Auto / Apple Carplay?
No. BUT it will do all the stuff you want in a different way without the need for your phone, but you won't get your messages displayed on-screen or calls coming through.
