Close Ups and Explanations - How We Do It: Getting Started in Tandem (Part Five)
Welcome to the fifth and final part of our "backstage" video series on how we get started training a horse that already drives single, to drive tandem. If you missed the first, second and third parts, please go check them out here before moving onto this video: https://youtu.be/tumKOXamwZI and https://youtu.be/ECagMuXbTJ0 and https://youtu.be/bj4T73NBwH4 and https://youtu.be/0J2002JxwcY or check out the playlist.
In this part, we look at close ups of how we connect parts of the harness together and give several explanations of what we're doing and how.
This video is *NOT* intended as a 'be all and end all' method or guide. It is simply a short window into 'How We Do It', as we get a lot of questions along these lines.
Equipment you will need if you would like to follow the video with your own horse:
* Swingletree - Padded (x1)
* Short Strap (x2)
* Clips / Carabiners (x2)
* Small Clips / Carabiners (x4)
* Quick Release Shackles (x3)
* Leadropes (x2)
* Full Harness with Britching (x1)
* Willing Equine Student (x2)
* Pole Strap or Similar (x2)
* Cable Ties (several)
* Bungy Ropes (x2)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ALL NECESSARY SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR YOU AND YOUR HORSES.
There will be a few more parts to this series, so keep an eye out for them over the next few weeks if you're interested in preparing your horses to drive in tandem.
As always, questions and comments welcome below!
