Classic Childhood Tv Horror To Watch This Halloween
Are You Afraid of the Dark started out as Scary Tales, a pitch from DJ MacHale and Ned Kandel. Originally the network passed on the pitch saying, “You can’t scare kids. It’s not going to fly.” When they left, MacHale left behind a 3-page treatment of what the series was going to be. Join us as we look back fondly at this awesome series!
The one anthology series I thought would get a little more hype is 1988's Monsters. Well, guess what? I think it deserves more than a mere mention in Horror history. So let's take a trip to the late 80s and remember Monsters. If you haven't seen this yet, and you are a fan of anthology horror, please check this one out. You know what? We should just blow this up as a beacon for our love of the show. Alright, I'm getting carried away. Until next time, don't forget the candied critters, my creepy companions!
I think 1991 shaped my life before I even realized it did. Aeon Flux, Pete & And; Pete, Clarissa Explains It All, and of course, Eerie, Indiana. There was something cool about these shows made for kids and teens around this time– they weren't dumbing it down. Kids felt like they were watching something they could experience for themselves– it felt real. These were kids that were actually my age, tackling real issues through a more fantastical storyline. So today, we delve into one of the best, if not brief, series with Eerie, Indiana!
