Lexington & Myrtle AVE ELS movie footage

Vincent Seyfried's movie footage of the Lexington and the Myrtle Ave ELs in Brooklyn and Queens in New York City. The Brooklyn Elevated R.R [THE MAIN LINE} was Brooklyn's first urban elevated R.R. when opened in 1885. From the Fulton ferry the line ran along York St, Hudson Ave, Park Ave, Grand Ave , Lexington Ave, and Broadway thru Eastern Pkwy to Van Siclen Ave. in 1888 the portion on Broadway was extended west from the Lexington Ave junction to Williamsburg Brooklyn. Between 1889 and 1891 the Park Ave.section was eliminated snapping the old MAIN LINE in two parts of the Park Ave structure was used to extend the 'Broadway El from Van Siclen Ave in 1893 along Fulton ST.AND CRESENT ST TO Cypress Hills . In 1904 the lower portion that ran on York St. and Hudson Ave was abandon . The remaining section that ran off the Myrtle Ave El crossing along Grand Ave . and Lexington Ave. to Broadway became known to generations after 1904 as the Lexington Ave EL. This film also includes footage of the 3 track Broadway line , as Lexington Ave EL trains operates jointly with Jamaica trains once it turns in to run to Queens. The Lexington Ave EL was discontinued in Oct. of 1950. The Myrtle Ave EL from the Broadway EL down to JAY ST. was abandon in 1969., the portion still further in that ran up Adams St. and thru the old Sand St. terminal and over the Brooklyn Bridge was eliminated in 1944. and is beyond the years of this movie ,so that part does not appear.
