How to make a kitchen island from an old dresser!

How to make a kitchen island from an old dresser! - In this week’s video, I show you how to make a kitchen island from scratch, using a dresser we found in a local charity shop. I love upcycling preloved pieces of furniture, rather than buying new, which is why I decided to do a ‘how to make a kitchen island from old furniture’ video, rather than just heading to Ikea! I’ll talk you through how to make a kitchen island countertop as well. We made our kitchen island countertop out of our old wooden kitchen surfaces, so nothing went to waste! We overhung the kitchen island countertop by about 30cm, so that we could add stools and voila - a kitchen island table! This is a really simple but effective kitchen island design for anyone wanting to have a go at a little kitchen island DIY! If you’re looking for kitchen island ideas, this is the video for you!

Using outdoor furniture paint for our upcycled kitchen island means that we can wipe it down if it gets dirty. Also, as the paint we used to paint our home-made kitchen island is a chalk paint with resin in it made by FrenchChic (colour: Wise Old Sage), it should be really hard wearing. Plus, added bonus - the ‘al fresco’ range by FrenchChic doesn’t need a primer or a finishing wax/varnish, so it’s perfect for getting a kitchen island made quickly!

Subscribe to my channel so you never miss a video! I'll share my home improvement tips and tricks, how-to videos and chat to you about my life living in France in the countryside. With guest appearances from my chickens and cats, of course!
