Consider a timely message from the life and ministry of Elijah under the title:

“The God of Every Season”

Text: (1 Kings 17:1–24)
Sub Text: (James 5:13–18)

In a world that constantly looks to people, systems, governments, and earthly solutions for security and provision, the Scriptures remind us that there is only One who rules over every season of life.

In this sermon, we will see that:

* God alone controls the rain and the drought, abundance and famine, life and death.

* The drought in Elijah’s day was God’s declaration that Baal was powerless and that Yahweh alone reigns.

* God often provides for His people in unexpected and extraordinary ways.

* The God who fed Elijah through ravens and a Gentile widow is still able to provide for His people today.

* Seasons of drought are not evidence of God’s absence, but opportunities to trust His sovereign care.

* The first recorded resurrection miracle in Scripture points us to the God who has power even over death itself.

* Every season of life ultimately calls us to worship and trust the one true God.

“As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” (1 Kings 17:1)

I will be arguing that one of the greatest temptations facing God’s people is to place their confidence in modern-day “Baals” rather than in the Lord Himself. Yet 1 Kings 17 teaches us that God alone is the source of every blessing and the ruler of every season.
