Avimukta Kashetra Varanasi | A surreal morning in varanasi

Varanasi's unique status in Hinduism:

According to Hindu scriptures, Varanasi holds a special place. It is believed to rest on Shiva's trident, not on Earth, hence earning the name Avimukt, meaning "never forsaken." This signifies its exceptional spiritual significance.
The rules of Hinduism are said to be different within the boundaries of Kashi (Varanasi).
Dying in Varanasi is believed to be a path to liberation (Moksha), breaking the cycle of rebirth.
The concept of Avimukt is further emphasized by a small temple dedicated to Shiva within the Vishwanath Temple complex, named Avimukteshwara, meaning "lord of the Avimukt region."
Paying respects to Avimukteshwara before worshipping Kashi Vishwanath himself is considered an important tradition.
