This is what can happen on a low-pitched metal roof after heavy snow and freezing temperatures in winter. Ice damming is even more of an issue with asphalt shingles since it can lead to leaking, but ice and snow can easily fall off a metal roof with an avalanche-type effect. Regardless of your type of roof, make sure you’re prepared for winter!
