Experts vragen zich niet meer af of het gaat gebeuren, maar wanneer. Een terroristische aanslag in
Nederland, net zoals de Europese buurlanden al hebben ondergaan. Dit is het angstbeeld waar
Nederland vandaag de dag mee opgescheept zit. Is de angst terecht? Zijn de moslims echt zo eng? Of
zien we door media-framing achter iedere boom een spook?

‘De Boodschap’ synopsis
'De Boodschap' vertelt het verhaal van de jonge praktiserende moslim Wassim, die een supermarkt
bezoekt. Al gauw wordt hij in de gaten gehouden door de winkelbeveiliger. Na een handgemeen
tussen de twee met dodelijke gevolgen, ontstaat er paniek onder de bezoekers die massaal de winkel
uitrennen. Wat Wassim nog niet weet is dat er in de kantine nog drie medewerkers pauze houden.
Wanneer hij hen ontdekt, probeert hij hen van zijn onschuld te overtuigen, totdat er iets
merkwaardigs gebeurt wat zijn verhaal in twijfel brengt. ‘De Boodschap’ is een dramafilm met heftige
dialogen over hedendaagse maatschappelijke kwesties, afgewisseld met een flinke dosis spanning.

Experts no longer wonder if it will happen, but when. A terrorist attack in the Netherlands, just as the
European neighboring countries have already undergone. This is the fear of image that the Netherlands
is currently confronted with. Is the fear justified? Are the Muslims really that scary? Or have we
become suspicous because of mediaframing ?

‘De Boodschap’ synopsis
When the practicing young Muslim Wassim visits the supermarket, he is monitored closely by the
shopguard. After a scuffle between the two with fatal consequences, there is panic among the
visitors, after which the visitors run out of the supermarket. What Wassim does not yet know is that
there are three employees on a break in the canteen. When he discovers them, he tries to prove his
innocence, until something strange happens that questions his story.
"De Boodschap" is a drama film with intense dialogues on contemporary social issues interspersed
with a good dose of tension.
