islam_makhachlev Islam Ramazanovich Makhachev was born on October 27, 1991, in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia. He grew up in a mountainous region where combat sports are deeply rooted in the culture. From a young age, he trained in wrestling and later expanded into sambo, a Russian martial art that blends judo and wrestling.

He was mentored by the legendary coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who also trained his close friend and former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Makhachev is known for his elite grappling, suffocating control, and strategic fighting style. His base includes:
