Today I am pleased to review one of the most popular scents in the vast Stirling Soap Co. (https://www.stirlingsoap.com/) line up, their Barbershop scent. Stirling is among the most popular artisinal soaps and is well known for their price to performance ratio, which many believe to be the industry standard. Stirling offers a huge variety of scent in both shaving soap, aftershave spalsh, aftershave balm and soaps. They can also be found at Maggard Razors (http://www.maggardrazors.com/).

Stirling Barbershop is a very unique interpretation of this traditional, classic scent. Stirling’s version is heavy on the talc It opens powdery with a huge note of fresh talc. The blend is then balanced out by vanilla, musk, amber and bay. This is a very pleasant Barbershop that really captures the essence of this traditional scent. Scent strength is mid off the sample and remains so once lathered. Scents with the most similar profile to this barbershop variant are: Reef Point Command Presence and Clubman Pinaud.

The performance on the soap is as expected, having had previous experience with Stirling’s shaving soap. The soap loads easily into the brush, provides good cushion, slickness and post shave. The residual slickness is there, although not a star. The tallow, lanolin and glycerin leave your skin feeling smooth and silky. The performance of this soap makes it punch with other well known and top level artisans. When using this soap the performance reminds me a lot of Through the Fire Fine Crafts and Australian Private Reserve.
