🚨 USCIS UPDATE – APRIL 2026: Work Permits for Asylum Applicants UNDER THREAT?

There’s a BIG proposed change that could impact thousands of asylum seekers… but here’s what you need to know 👇

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
This is a PROPOSED law — it is NOT in effect (yet).

🧾 CURRENT RULE:
Asylum applicants can apply for a work permit (EAD) once their “EAD clock” reaches 180 days.

⏳ PROPOSED CHANGE:
That wait time could DOUBLE to 365 days before you’re eligible to apply.

😳 What does this mean?
❗ Longer time without the ability to legally work
❗ Increased financial pressure on families
❗ More uncertainty during an already stressful process

💡 But remember:
🚫 Nothing has changed YET
✔️ Current rules still apply right now

🎯 Why this matters:
If this proposal becomes law, it could significantly delay when asylum applicants can start working legally in the U.S.
