Caledonian Canal Solo SUP Adventure (Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness) 60 Miles

Video from my trip to cross Scotland on the Caledonian Canal. This cuts across Scotland from Fort William to Inverness. After watching a video of someone doing this it just jumped out at me as something I had to do. So I set off at 1.00 in the morning from Redruth in Cornwall and drove to Inverness. This took just over 11 hours arriving in Inverness at 12.30. I picked up a toilet Key and free map from Inverness Sea Port (You have to register at least 5 days in advance) and got a Cab to the start in Banavie, Fort William (The lovely lady I got my key from ordered the cab for me). I arrived in Banavie and set everything up and finally got underway around 3.30. I had never done anything like this on my own before and having to take everything I needed for 4 days to allow me to wild camp out on the Loch's was a challenge in itself. Luckily a last minute water filtering pump I bought was the most important piece of kit. I was able to fill up my 5 Litre bottle straight from the Loch's and hadn't realised I would go through quite as much water as I did (5-6 Litres a day) My 2nd day was the toughest as I did 25 miles that day and slept like a baby. Hope you get a good idea from this video of how quick conditions can change on the Lochs even when the weather was pretty much fine for the majority of the trip the water has a life of its own!
