HOW TO ADD POCKETS INTO YOUR CLOTHES| DIY| ROCHELLE MERCADO

Hi beautiful people! Welcome or welcome back! In today's video, I am going to show you how to add pockets into your clothes.

So, this jumpsuit doesn't have a pocket. My mom gave it to me 2 years ago, I guess and I've only used it thrice. So, I'm going to add pockets in it.

I want the jumpsuit to be shorter so I've already put a mark where I want it to be. From the bottom to the desired length, it's 14" but I have to allot 2" for the seam allowance so I'll be cutting 12" only.

Now,we are going to make a pattern for the pockets. All we need is a bond paper and a pencil. So, just put your hand on top of the paper. Then the widest part if your palm should be parallel to the edge of the paper and then mark it.

After that, your palm should be in a slanting position then trace it all around, like so. If you want, you can make it a bit larger like the one I'm doing here since it's my very first time to make it. I don't want to make a mistake and make the pockets too small wherein my hand don't fit in it so it's better if we make the pockets larger.

So, this is the fabric that I've cut from the jumpsuit and I'm going to use it for the pockets. Any fabric will do, just grab anything that's available. After cutting the pattern, let's pin it

Cut the 2 layers of fabric and remember to add seam allowance because I did not include it in the pattern. That's just how I want it, if you want, you can add it in the pattern.

Since I'm making 2 pockets, there should be 4pcs of fabric and I'm going to use this black fabric that's lying around. I chose bot to use the rest of the fabric from the jumpsuit because I'm going to use it for another purpose later.

So, there are already 2 pairs of pockets. It's not perfect. I should have used this one as the pattern for the black fabric but it's fine, I know I can make it work. So, let's go ahead and attach it to the jumpsuit.

From the waist of the jumpsuit, let's measure 2" below it, that's where I want the pockets to sit. Also measure the opening of the pockets, in my case, it's 4.5". After that, get your seam ripper and open the sides about a centimeter beyond the 4.5" opening.

Let's turn it inside out and this is the opening that we did. And let's get our pocket, it should be pointing down, not like this. I'm sure you know that. To attach it, it's a bit tricky, so let's open it, get your pocket Nd open it also. Align it to the opening on the jumpsuit. Right sides of the fabric should be facing together and then pin it

So, this is how it should look like after pinning it. Now we are going to sew it. I'm sorry if the angle of the footage is not that good. After sewing the pocket into the opening, let's sew the rest of the pocket. So, we have to sew 2 centimeters above the opening, around the pocket, and 2 centimeters below the opening.

So, this is the finished product guys. I'm so happy that I was able to do it successfully for the first try. If I can do it, I know you can do it, too! I'm really happy and certainly I will be adding pockets into my pocketless clothes.
