Hyundai has exclusively equipped its hybrid model with a six-speed automatic transmission, which not only increases driving comfort, but also makes it easier for the electronic drive control to efficiently combine petrol and electric operation. In addition, the automatic enables the use of further technical highlights that characterize the top model of the series. The new navigation-based adaptive cruise control system (standard from Trend equipment) can be ordered for the Tucson Hybrid as well as for the models with dual clutch transmission. Based on the map data, it recognizes the route that the vehicle is traveling and reduces the speed in good time before a town sign, a roundabout or a sharp curve, so that the driver can travel safely and without exceeding the speed limit.

The 1.49 kilowatt-hour capacity of the lithium-ion polymer battery in the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid can easily be maintained or charged while driving. This happens either when the Tucson Hybrid is traveling long distances at high speed or - preferably - whenever the driver takes off the accelerator or steps on the brakes, for example when driving downhill or when coasting at a red light. In these situations, the compact electric motor reverses its direction of action and turns into a generator. In this way, it generates electricity that can be stored in the battery. In this way, the kinetic energy of the rolling SUV is not lost, but can be used the next time it starts up, accelerates or for short distances without a combustion engine.

This is possible because the electric motor of the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, which is mounted in front of the gearbox, not only generates a remarkable output of 44.2 kW (60 hp), but also an equally impressive torque of 265 Newton meters. With the 132 kW / 180 PS petrol engine, thanks to the turbocharging and direct petrol injection, the maximum torque is available from 1,500 revolutions and thus at an early stage, the electric motor can basically call up its maximum power from a standing start. The combination of electric and gasoline engines results in a system torque of 350 Newton meters and noticeably stronger acceleration from a standing start than with gasoline or diesel engines with comparable engine power. In figures: the new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid completes the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 8.0 seconds.

4-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging and direct fuel injection.
132 kW (180 PS) output, 265 Nm max.torque at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm.
Electric motor with 44.2 (60 hp) and 265 Nm torque.
System output 169 kW (230 PS) and 350 Nm max.torque.
Fuel consumption in l / 100 km: urban 5.3; extra-urban 4.7; combined 4.9; CO 2 emissions in g / km combined: 112.
Six-speed automatic transmission (6AT), front-wheel drive.

The design of the Tucson Hybrid follows the new "Sensuous Sportiness" design philosophy for the first time in a Hyundai SUV. Geometric algorithms form the basis for a new design process, which the Hyundai designers call "Parametric Dynamics" and which is carried out exclusively on the computer and which shapes the entire design of the SUV.

First Hyundai SUV with the new design philosophy "Sensuous Sportiness".
Parametric grille with seamlessly integrated daytime running lights and turn signal lights.
Efficient hybrid drive with a powerful electric motor and automatic transmission.
Combined fuel consumption under five liters per 100 kilometers.
Central front airbag between the front seats, more assistance systems than ever before
Three equipment lines on offer: Select, Trend and Prime.
10.25 inch navigation touchscreen with Bluelink ® , Apple CarPlay ™ and Android Auto ™.
Digital cockpit with 10.25 inch color display, Krell premium sound system.
Terrain modes with driving programs for mud, sand and snow.
Automated parking in and out of parking spaces without the driver sitting in the car.

The new Hyundai Tucson 1.6 T-GDI Hybrid (fuel consumption in l / 100 km: urban 5.3; extra urban 4.7; combined 4.9; CO 2 emissions in g / km combined: 112) combines the best of both worlds : The 132 kW (180 hp) of its 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine is joined by an electric motor with an additional 44.2 kW (60 hp). Together, both engines provide a system output of 169 kW (230 PS) and a maximum torque of 350 Newton meters, making the Tucson Hybrid by far the most powerful drive in the Tucson family. At the same time, it consumes the least petrol at 4.9 l / 100 km in combined operation. The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid can also cover short distances purely electrically.
