Behold: I Bring You Glad Tidings (Gibbons) - Choir of Manchester Cathedral
The Choir of Manchester Cathedral, under the direction of Christophe Stokes, perform Orlando Gibbons' verse anthem for Christmas Day.
The seventeenth-century anthem, which foregrounds verses for treble, alto, tenor, and bass, is accompanied here on organ (Jeffrey Makinson) rather than viol consort. The familiar text draws on words from Luke's account of the Annunciation of the Angels to the Shepherds.

Which shall be to all people:
That unto us a child is born.
Unto us a son is giv’n,
A savior which is Christ the Lord.
Glory be to God on high
And on earth, peace
Good will towards men.
