Sophie Marceau is a French actress, screenwriter, director, and author. She starting acting as a teenager and became popular with her initial movies ‘La Boum’ and ‘La Boum 2’. She quickly rose to fame in Europe with a string of hit movies, including ‘L'Étudiante,’ ‘Pacific Palisades’ and ‘Revenge of the Musketeers.’ She achieved further international success with her performances in the films ‘Firelight’ and ‘Braveheart’. Born to a truck driver and a shop assistant, Marceau grew up far from the glimmer of the show business. She never thought of entering the entertainment industry until February 1980 when she first came across an advertisement by a modeling agency. She applied and was selected. Since then, the French beauty has been active in the modeling and the acting industry and has undoubtedly achieved considerable success in both fields. Career
Sophie Marceau made her acting debut in 1980 with the French comedy flick ‘La Boum’. The following year, she recorded a song "Dream in Blue" with François Valéry. She next starred in the sequel of La Boum titled ‘La Boum 2’. Her performance in this film earned her the 1983 César Award for the Most Promising Actress.
In 1984, she appeared in the historical drama ‘Fort Saganne’ alongside Catherine Deneuve and Gérard Depardieu. That year, the actress also acted in the film ‘Joyeuses Pâques’ (Happy Easter). Soon after this, she did the movies ‘L'amour braque’ and ‘Police’. Then in 1986, Marceau was cast in the flick ‘Descente aux enfers’ (in English - Descent Into Hell). Two years later, she got featured in the historical adventure movie ‘Chouans’ as well as in the comedy film ‘L'Étudiante’ (The Student). She went on to play a role in her then-boyfriend Andrzej Zulawski’s film ‘My Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days’

In recent years, Sophie Marceau has continued to play a wide variety of roles, mostly in French films. In 2004, she played a widowed nurse in the drama film ‘Nelly’. A year later, she had a role of an undercover police agent in the romantic thriller ‘Anthony Zimmer’. She next played the troubled daughter of a murdered movie star in ‘Trivial’.
