Croatia celebrated Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans Day today.

On August 5, 1995, Croatian Army liberated the royal city of Knin as part of the police-military operation “Storm”. This event was officially chosen as the day when Croatia celebrates Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans Day.

After a series of previously successful military operations, approximately 200,000 Croatian soldiers and police forces carried out the final joint police and military operation “Storm” and in just 84 hours, on 04.-07.08.1995, liberated 10,400 km2 or 18.4% of the occupied territory.

This last victory officially ended the Homeland War in the Republic of Croatia. Croatia proudly remembers all those who gave their lives for the freedom of Homeland.
