Global National: Jan. 5, 2021 | Is Canada's COVID-19 vaccine rollout too slow?
On this episode of Global National: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admits he's “frustrated” with Canada's COVID-19 vaccine rollout, but says he remains optimistic. Abigail Bimman reports on when Trudeau expects most Canadians to be vaccinated by, and his plan to address the rollout with the premiers.
Plus, compared to other nations, Canada is falling behind on its coronavirus vaccination rollout. Eric Sorensen explains how some provinces are planning to speed up the process.
In Quebec, the provincial government is reportedly considering a second lockdown, and even a curfew, to crush the COVID-19 curve that keeps trending upward. Mike Armstrong hears from an epidemiologist who says a curfew is needed.
Moving to western Canada: after several members of his government were exposed for travelling during the holidays, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney stayed quiet on the issue on Tuesday. As Heather Yourex-West explains, Kenney can't hide behind silence for long.
Turning to U.S. politics, voters in Georgia headed to the polls again on Tuesday to cast their ballots in a run-off vote that will determine who will control the U.S. Senate. But outgoing President Donald Trump just won't give up on his baseless claims of voter fraud. Jackson Proskow reports.
And some of Canada's snowbirds aren't waiting to get the coronavirus vaccine at home. Instead, they're getting their shot in the U.S. Mike Drolet explains how this isn't a loophole, and the risks.
