The train leaves the sunny Ticino behind and climbs steadily through dramatic Alpine scenery, passing historic engineering landmarks such as the Intschireuss Bridge and entering the legendary Gotthard summit tunnel, opened in 1882 as one of Europe’s great railway achievements. Over a distance of about 293 km, the route transitions from steep mountain valleys to rolling landscapes of Central Switzerland before reaching the urban heart of Basel. Filmed from the driver’s cab aboard the modern copper-coloured Traverso trainset, this video captures the changing light, tunnels, curves and gradients of Switzerland’s classic north–south axis, presented with natural sound only for a fully immersive and relaxing rail experience.
