[4K] Halve Maen Swinging Ship, join us for a full ride on Halve Maen, the legendary swinging ship at Efteling Theme Park in the Netherlands. Located in the Ruigrijk area of the park, this massive VOC-style ship has been thrilling visitors since 1982.

Halve Maen, which translates to "Half Moon," is a replica of the historic Dutch East India Company vessel that once sailed the seas and even reached what is now New York. Designed by Ton van de Ven and built by Intamin, the Halve Maen swinging ship rises up to 25 metres at speeds of 54 km/h, giving brave riders a thrilling, weightless sensation as it rocks back and forth through its dramatic arc.

Themed like a picturesque Dutch harbour, Halve Maen swinging ship is set among sand, sea walls, and nautical-style buildings that reflect Efteling's signature design. While the queue is simple, the setting around the ride immerses visitors in the world of maritime adventure.

Originally the largest swinging ship in the world, Halve Maen was added to the park to appeal to thrill-seeking guests and marked one of Efteling's first steps into more intense rides. Though it no longer holds the record, it remains one of the park’s most iconic thrill attractions, offering out-of-your-seat moments with every cycle.

Halve Maen is located in Ruigrijk, known as Efteling's Thrill Realm. This area is home to many of the park’s most exciting attractions, including Python, Baron 1898, Joris en de Draak, and De Vliegende Hollander. It’s a must-visit part of the park for fans of faster rides and bigger thrills. Efteling continues to expand this area with new additions, and in 2026, a free fall tower themed to the Baron 1898 storyline will open next to the coaster, offering another adrenaline-fueled experience.

Efteling Theme Park Resort, located in Kaatsheuvel, has enchanted guests since 1952 with its blend of story-driven attractions and world-class design. From dark rides like Droomvlucht and Symbolica to family favourites like Carnaval Festival and Max & Moritz, the park combines tradition with innovation. In 2024, Efteling unveiled its newest dark ride, Dance Macabre, a haunting and spectacular addition that blends immersive storytelling with cutting-edge ride technology.

Guests can stay overnight at several Efteling resorts, including the fairytale-themed Efteling Hotel, the nature-inspired Loonsche Land, or the woodland village of Efteling Bosrijk. Two new accommodations are also expanding the resort’s offerings, the newly refurbished Efteling Wonder Hotel and the luxurious Grand Hotel Efteling, opening soon with direct access to the heart of Efteling.
