Diwan Saz Live @ The Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival Sept. 6, 2012 - With Rav David Menachem

What an amazing place! The Cave of Zedekia, underneath the old city in Jerusalem, also known as Solomon's Quarries -- is a 5-acre (20,000 m2) underground meleke limestone quarry that runs the length of five city blocks under the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. It was carved over a period of several thousand years and is a remnant of the biggest quarry in Jerusalem, having once stretched all the way from Jeremiah's Grotto and the Garden Tomb -- a traditional Protestant site of Jesus's burial -- to the walls of the Old City.

This concert by the group Diwan Saz, from the Galilean village of Yodefat, along with some very special guest artists, wan an amazing experience. The music is from Turkey to Persia to Azerbaijan and Hebrew Piyutim, Persian and Turkish words. The musicianship is extraordinary. The vibe is out of another time and place. Enjoy the experience.

Featuring: Tal Karo -- vocals, Said Tarabieh -- vocals, Rani Lorentz -- bass, Eyal Luman -- kanun and percussion, Itamar Doari -- percussion, Roi de Mayo -- vocals and percussion, Yochai Barak -- musical arrangement and direction, saz, baglama, jura, Udi Benknaan -- lyre and saz, Aviv Bahar -- guitar and kopuz, Yitzhak Ventura -- ney, Tzipi Dagan -- vocals, David Menachem -- vocals, Yitzhak Refuah -- vocals.
