California Finally Gets A Say With Super Tuesday | Dispatches From The Middle

California doesn't usually vote this early. In fact, they haven't voted in Super Tuesday since 2008, and are usually one of the last states to vote in the primaries.

California decided that they wanted to have a bigger say in the democratic nomination this year, so they joined over a dozen other states in Super Tuesday on March 3, 2020 and cast their vote for the nomination in both parties.

Five democratic candidates went into the race on Super Tuesday, and only two viable ones came out on the other side. What role did California have in narrowing down the playing field?

Also, did you know that California used to be a staunchly republican state? Mike Luery from @KCRA News walks us through how the Golden State went from red to blue in the early 1990s.
